Why is my test card reaching the gateway?

Admoji handles two kinds of test cards differently, and only one of them stays inside Admoji:

  • Cards in your Test Cards list (Settings > Account Settings > Test Cards) — Admoji approves or declines the order itself. The card never reaches the gateway.

  • Gateway test card numbers, such as 4111 1111 1111 1111 — the standard test numbers published by NMI, Stripe, PayPal, and other gateways. Admoji sends these to the MID like any other card, and a live MID will decline or even charge them.

Why a Test Card Goes to the Gateway

  1. The card is not in the Test Cards list of the account that placed the order. The list is per account and is matched on the full card number, so add the exact number to that account's list.

  1. The processor has Live Test Mode turned on. Live Test Mode sends even Test Cards list cards out to the gateway. Keep it off on live MIDs.

  1. The checkout sent a payment token instead of the card number. The list is matched on the card number, so wallet and tokenized payments always go to the gateway.

Blocking Test Cards on a Live Campaign

To reject gateway test cards outright, turn on Block Test Cards in the campaign's BIN Management tab. Admoji checks the card against the standard gateway test numbers and rejects the order with REF:0001 Test Card not allowed before anything is sent to the gateway. Note: Orders approved with a card from your Test Cards list never reach the gateway, so they do not count toward the Day cap or Month cap of your MIDs. A card that does reach the gateway counts like any other approved charge.
