There are two ways to test an autoresponder. Send Test Email on the template sends the email you are editing to any address, filled in with the data of a real order — the quickest way to check the content and the tokens. To test the whole flow, including that the event fires for your campaign and product, trigger the real event on a test customer with test orders, so nothing reaches your MIDs.
Step 1: Send a Test Email from the Template
Go to CRM > Autoresponders > Templates and click the edit (pencil) icon of the template.
Click Send Test Email at the top of the page. The button only appears on a template that has already been saved.
In Order ID, enter the ID of a real order from your account. Its data (customer name, products, totals) fills in the tokens.
In Send To, enter the address that should receive the test.
Click Send. The message Test email sent successfully confirms it went out.
Step 2: Place a Test Order
Place an order on the campaign you are testing, using your own email address and an approving card from your Test Cards list. Use a product with a subscription if you also want to test the recurring emails.
The order is approved without reaching the gateway, and the Order Confirmation email goes out a few minutes later.
Step 3: Trigger the Other Emails
Open the test customer from For Customers > Search and use the actions below:
Recurring Payment Approved — in the Recurrings section, click the play icon (Run Recurring) and confirm. The rebill is charged right away on the card on file, and the email goes out once it is approved.
Recurring Cancellation — in the Recurrings section, click Cancel Recurring on the subscription.
Order Refund or Void Notification — refund or void the test order. A partial refund sends the Order Refund email with the refunded amount.
Sign Up Payment Issue — place a new order with a new email address and a declining card from your Test Cards list (CVV 999). This email is sent only once per customer, so a customer who already received an order email will not get it.
Step 4: Check What Was Sent
In the test customer's profile, open the Emails section. Every email sent to this customer is listed there, and you can use Resend to send one again to any address.
If an email you expected is missing, open the customer's Logs tab, then History. Admoji logs the reason whenever it skips an email — for example, that the email type is not set up for the product, or that more than one event of that type covers the product.
