When a MID reaches its cap, the load balancer stops sending it orders. If no other MID in the rule can take them, orders fail until the cap resets or you raise it. To hear about it before that happens, create a Processing Limit alert: it emails you, or posts to a Telegram group, when the approved volume of a MID for the month crosses the threshold you choose.
Step 1: Set the Monthly Limit on the Processor
Go to Merchants > Processors.
Click the Edit button (pencil icon) in the row of the MID.
Open the Settings tab and enter the Monthly Limit: the monthly volume the MID is approved for.
Click Save.
Step 2: Create the Alert
Go to Administration > Alert System and click New.
In Alert Type, select Processing Limit.
In Processors, select the MIDs you want to watch.
In Rule, select Within Monthly Limit to be warned at a percentage of the Monthly Limit, or Exceeds Amount to be warned at a dollar amount.
Enter the Threshold: a percentage for Within Monthly Limit (for example, 80), or an amount for Exceeds Amount.
Under Send via, choose Email, Telegram, or Email + Telegram. For email, type each address and click the + icon to add it. For Telegram, select the groups.
Click Save.
How the Alert Behaves
It counts the approved sales and captures of the MID since the first day of the month.
It is checked continuously, so the message goes out within minutes of crossing the threshold.
It fires once per MID per month, and is armed again when the next month starts.
The message shows the account, the MID, the amount processed so far, the Monthly Limit, and the threshold.
Match the Alert to the Caps of Your Rules
What takes a MID out of rotation inside a rule is its Day cap and Month cap in Merchants > Management. The alert does not read those two fields, so line them up yourself:
If the Month cap of the rule is lower than the Monthly Limit of the processor, use Exceeds Amount with a threshold below the Month cap. For example, with a Month cap of $100,000, alert at $80,000.
There is no alert for the Day cap. Check the Day remaining column of the rule in Merchants > Management.
Keep at least one more active MID in the same round, so orders have somewhere to go when one MID is capped.
When every MID of a rule is capped, orders fail with All processors are either ineligible or have exceeded their daily limits. See Why do I get "All processors are either ineligible or have exceeded their daily limits"? for how to get orders flowing again.
