How to Set Up the Bigdog Gateway

Bigdog is a credit card gateway available in Admoji. Besides standard card processing, a Bigdog processor can also accept Google Pay and Apple Pay, and its chargeback monitoring status is surfaced in the MID Health Report.

Note: Bigdog was previously named Shiftstack. If you see older references to Shiftstack, they refer to this same gateway.

Step 1: Create the Processor

  1. Go to Merchants > Processors.

  2. Select the Credit Card tab and click New.

  3. On the General tab, choose Bigdog from the Gateway dropdown.

  4. Click the edit icon next to the gateway to open the credentials drawer.

Step 2: Choose the Connection Mode

Bigdog runs in one of two modes, and the mode is decided by which of the URL and key fields you fill in. Pick the mode before you start typing, because it changes what the MID can charge.

  • TokenTech proxy — leave Direct API URL blank and enter your TokenTech Merchant Key. Admoji routes the transactions through proxy.tokentech.pro/api/v1/tokenize_proxy/{your key}. This mode accepts raw cards as well as Google Pay and Apple Pay, and it is the one you want for normal card processing.

  • Direct API — enter the payfac base URL in Direct API URL, for example https://gateway.sparxmarketplace.com/api/v1. This mode accepts Google Pay and Apple Pay only — raw card payments will not go through.

Step 3: Enter the Bigdog Credentials

Fill in the fields in the Connect Gateway drawer:

  • API Username — required.

  • API Password — required.

  • Direct API URL (optional) — leave blank unless you are setting up wallet-only mode.

  • TokenTech Merchant Key (optional) — the merchant key appended to the proxy URL. Enter it whenever Direct API URL is blank.

  • Google Pay Merchant ID (optional) — only needed if you want to accept Google Pay on this MID.

  • Apple Pay Merchant ID (optional) — only needed if you want to accept Apple Pay on this MID.

  • Test Mode — simulates transactions without reaching the gateway.

  • Live Test Mode — sends your live credentials to the Bigdog sandbox. Test Mode and Live Test Mode are mutually exclusive, and Live Test Mode cannot be combined with a Direct API URL.

Tip: Instead of typing the username and password, click Auth Key next to API Username and paste a Base64 username:password key — Admoji decodes it into both fields. Click Manual to go back to the two separate fields.

Step 4: Validate the Credentials

  1. Click Validate at the bottom of the drawer.

  2. Wait for the Credentials successfully validated message. The drawer closes and the gateway shows up as a badge on the General tab.

Important: Bigdog credentials have to be validated before the processor can be saved. If you close the drawer without a successful validation, Admoji warns Please validate the gateway credentials and the gateway is not attached. Editing any credential field after validating clears the validation, so validate again before saving.

Step 5: Complete the Processor Settings

  1. Enter a Processor Name on the General tab.

  2. Open the Settings tab and enter the MID Number and Currency — both are required.

  3. Configure the optional limits and fees (Monthly Limit, Discount Rate, Reserve Rate, Transaction Fee, Chargeback Fee, Alert Fee) as needed.

  4. Click Save.

Monitoring Chargebacks on a Bigdog MID

Bigdog MIDs expose their card-brand monitoring status directly in Admoji. Open Reports > MID Health, find the Bigdog MID, and click the Chargeback Monitoring icon in the Action column. See How to Use the MID Health Report for the details of that view.
