A customer can have several payments: the sale, upsells and rebills. When a chargeback or a chargeback alert comes in for one of them, you can mark that exact payment, so your reports count the payment that was disputed and its amount. You can do it from the order in Admoji or with the API.
Step 1: Find the Payment
Go to For Customers > Search and open the customer.
In the Orders section, click the order to open Order Details.
Open the Transactions tab. Each row is a payment, and the Transaction ID column shows the ID the gateway gave it, the same one that appears on the dispute notice.
Step 2: Mark the Payment
In the Actions column of the payment, click Chargeback. The button only shows on approved sales and captures.
In the Mark transaction window, choose the Type: Chargeback or Chargeback Alert.
Optionally, add a Note, for example the dispute reason or the date of the notice.
Tick I understand and confirm this action and click Confirm marking. The message Transaction marked successfully confirms it.
Step 3: Check the Result
The Status column of the payment shows a Chargeback badge (ChargebackAlert for an alert), and its Chargeback button is disabled.
The Alert Type column stays empty. It shows the alert service (RDR, Ethoca…) only for alerts marked with the API with an alert type, see How to Record the Type of a Chargeback Alert.
The customer is flagged as a chargeback (or chargeback alert) in their profile.
The customer's Logs > History shows the entry Transaction … marked as chargeback, with your note and your user.
Step 4: Mark the Payment with the API
If your dispute or chargeback alert tool is connected to Admoji, it can mark the payment with the mark-chargeback endpoint. Send the payment's Transaction ID in GatewayTransactionID:
$ curl -X POST 'https://openapi.admoji.com/api/v2/open/customers/mark-chargeback' \
-H "content-type: application/json" \
-H "Authorization: ApiKey secret_492796e421a34666a5695d53cd311111" \

Use an API key of type Chargeback Defence or Full Access, and send a new Idempotency-Key on every call. Like the button, the call cancels the customer's recurrings and blacklists the customer.
